Washington, DC –Blacks In Government Interior Chapter [BIG] has bestowed its first Presidential Brilliante Award to eDiversity Solutions of WPI America for its exemplary advocacy efforts to increase diversity at the U.S. Department of Interior. The award was presented to Tom Oliver at the National Blacks In Government Conference in Kansas City, Missouri at a special Town Hall meeting.
“We are so pleased with the results of this campaign. For the first time in years, BIG’s Interior Chapter has engagement with the Secretary’s office” said Kim Lambert, President of the BIG Interior Chapter during the presentation ceremony. “Secretary Salazar has issued a new vision statement on diversity as a direct result of our efforts to educate the Department’s leadership on critical equal opportunity and diversity issues. Our national president lauded our chapter as one now leading the way for all of BIG. We owe a special word of thanks and this plaque of appreciation for a job exceptionally well done by Tom Oliver and his team.”
The outreach and educational campaign was undertaken by a team that included historian Jose de la Isla in Houston and researcher Eugene Chou in New York City.
The results of an August 2009 BIG Interior Town Hall meeting in Baltimore, Maryland were incorporated into a White Paper report written by Oliver, de la Isla and Chou and delivered to Secretary Salazar last fall and are now being implemented in large part at Interior. The communications news service partner for this program was CapitalWirePR.
