Last weekend of the most controversial World Premiere musical in DC area!

GALA Theatre Presents: Momia en el closet The Return of Eva Perón
In Spanish with English Subtitles

Here is a release of commentary and reviews of Momia en el closet:

What Momia en el closet does is to stand you up and slap you silly... - Potomac Stages

It's a fascinating story, and GALA's production...complements the tale with infectious music, spiced with salsa, liturgical chorales and other genres. - Washington Post

"Ott and Vales have packed a tremendous amount of history into "Momia", which faithfully reproduces what happened in Argentina from 1552 until 1975" - Washington Examiner

"Once again GALA makes a priceless contribution to Washington theatre with this splendorous world premiere musical. Don’t miss it. Let the rafters of the Tivoli shake, rattle and ring with the vocal blend of an impassioned international cast." - DC Theatre Scene

"A fascinating, and often humorous, look at the secretive movement of her (Evita) body through graveyards, cities and countries ..." - Bob Anthony

"Con todos los ingredientes "música en vivo, baile y canto" sumado al valor histórico de este musical se convierte en una propuesta que debe ser vista por los amantes del teatro...       Washington Hispanic

"El director, quien fue traído exclusivamente desde Argentina, recreó nítidamente el mensaje del autor, presentándonos una pieza totalmente divertida pero que a la vez nos hace reflexionar sobre las realidades que nos muestra" - El Coloquio

The DC Press has not been able to describe this musical in all its complexity. Some say it has "magical realism".
Although the dark comedy musical is based on historical facts it is confusing. Simply because it has a Latin American theme does not mean it has magical realism in it. Gustavo Ott is a leading proponent of "theater of the macabra". Say no to stereotypes. Latinoamérica es mucho más que eso.

Others describe it as a "circus".

They don't know that the history behind it was actually a circus.

Don't miss the opportunity to see it yourself, judge and even discuss with the director. Discusión después de la obra
