Shared Responsibilities-Shared Prosperity & “Good Neighbor Awards” Gala

Washington, DC The U.S.-Mexico Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual conference on U.S.-Mexico relations June 25th, 2009. Due to the current state of the global economy, there will be a panel on Medical Tourism and Tourism Development, and another which discusses Infrastructure and Energy Security. The focus of the second half of the conference is the Merida Initiative, due to increasing needs for national security, especially in the border region. There will be a panel to discuss the past, present and future of U.S.-Mexico Security Cooperation, as well as the chance for our members and guests to hear about specific plans and projects directly from the executives who are involved in this bilateral initiative.

The “Good Neighbor Awards” black tie gala recognizes committed leaders and their contributions to economic, political and social development resulting in region-wide improvements in the lives of the people of North America. This year the Chamber will honor:
·         The Honorable Janet Napolitano, U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security , and ex-governor of the State of Arizona
 
·         Ricardo Salinas Pliego, President & CEO, Grupo Salinas
