WHAT: The Latino leaders of the Washington Metropolitan Area nonprofit organizations will recognize 10 years of contributions of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) to the Latino and Caribbean communities. The event will pay a special tribute to IDB President, Luis A. Moreno.
In 1998, recognizing the social, economic and educational challenges these communities face, the Bank created the IDB-DC Solidarity Program. With this program, the institution acknowledged its civic and corporate responsibility to be responsive to the community in which it resides and operates. This program has strategic partnerships with local community organizations to promote development initiatives for Latino and Caribbean communities in the D.C. area, with emphasis on education, health and economic development. The IDB-DC Solidarity Program supports these organizations through grant making, volunteerism and special drives, technical assistance, the donation of surplus equipment.
