Washington, DC - Join the FREE celebration during three Saturday nights in Columbia Heights when the Maru Montero Dance Company presents Latin Dance Nights, featuring live music, dance and activities for children.

The annual event, sponsored by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities and the Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs, will be held Sept. 12, Sept. 19 and Sept. 26 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Civic Plaza on the corner of 14th Street, Park Road and Kenyon Street, near the Columbia Heights Metro.

“This is a fun event for everybody because there is a fantastic mix of music and dance from across Latin America,” said Maru Montero, founder and producer of the Latin Dance Nights. “People who are shopping or eating in Columbia Heights can drop by for a dance or stay for the entire evening.”

Performers will include the Mexican and Latin dancers of the Maru Montero Dance Company and the children’s company, the Mini-Monteros. Bachata 503 will be there, along with Tradiciones Bolivianas and Mariachi Son de America.

As usual, there will be Lotería (Mexican bingo) and dance contests where the participants can win many prizes. There also will be Latin arts and crafts for children. For more information, contact Jessica Peña at (956) 648-9316 or Maru Montero at admin@marumontero.com.
