Leaders & Entrepreneurs Flock to MD for Region’s Hispanic Business Event

BETHESDA, MD.– The Maryland Hispanic Business Conference kicks off its signature event this Tuesday September 2 at the Bethesda North Marriott Hotel & Conference Center – which attracts the State’s most notable leaders, entrepreneurs and government officials.

“The conference highlights the important role that minority-owned businesses play as job creators in spurring Maryland’s economic growth,” said Roger A. Campos, president and CEO of the Minority Business Roundtable and MDHBC board member.

This year, the public is invited to the attend exhibition showcase at no cost to meet with sponsors, exhibitors and media partners. The goal is to highlight the State’s leading businesses and create valuable relationships through networking.

Experts will lead a series of informational workshops on topics ranging from procurement, information systems, contracting, project management, marketing and social media and more. The all-star line-up includes Natalia Olson-Urtecho, Regional Administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration, Nicole Quiroga, General Manager of Telemundo WZDC Washington, D.C. and WZTD in Richmond and Mauricio Vera, Director of the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization.

Attendees will also hear from Steve Silverman, Director of Montgomery County Department of Economic Development, Maryland’s Lieutenant Governor Anthony Brown, Gubernatorial Candidate Larry Hogan, Montgomery County Executive Isiah “Ike” Leggett, Carmina Perez-Fowler, assistant secretary, MBE compliance and procurement at the Governor’s Office of Minority Affairs and Congressman Christopher "Chris" Van Hollen.

Alejandro Negrón will emcee the event for a second year in a row. This year’s conference will conclude with a “networking happy hour,” sponsored by Latin Opinion Baltimore Newspaper with featured musicians Las Chicas del Sabor Tropical.
