Washington, DC – Jimmy Gomez is making contacts and growing relationships this week in DC. Tuesday he will be hosted for a meet and greet at the Raben Group by Larry Gonzalez.  National civic operatives Mark Magana and Estuardo Rodriguez are also lending their names to the outreach.

In California, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon and Senate President Pro Tempore Kevin de Leon have endorsed Gomez.

California’s 34th Congressional seat is now open with the departure of Xavier Becerra, a seasoned Congressional leader. Becerra is now the Attorney General for the State of California. The district includes part of Los Angeles County.

Jimmy Gomez currently represents California’s 51st State Assembly district, winning over 85% of the 2016 general election ballots. Prior to his election to state office, Gomez was the political director of the United Nurses Association of California.

At this time, there are over a dozen Democrats seeking the nomination with the primary election on April 4, 2017. The general election follows on June 6th.

Demographically the 34th District is 67% Hispanic and 20% Asian. Republican Congressional nominees have failed to qualify for the run-off since 2012. The last three election cycles have seen run offs by the top two Democratic primary contenders.
