Washington, DC   The National Puerto Rican Coalition Inc. (NPRC) today urged members of the Senate committee responsible for ambassadorship nominations to confirm candidates Mari Carmen Aponte for U.S. Ambassador of El Salvador and Raul Yzaguirre for U.S. Ambassador of the Dominican Republic.

“Both Mari Carmen and Raul are highly respected Americans. These outstanding individuals embody the values, honor, and responsibility required to represent our country on foreign soil.  Their cultural heritage will serve to enhance their collaborative, intellectual, and diplomatic capacity needed to hold this prestigious job.” stated Miguel D. Lausell, Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Puerto Rican Coalition.

“We are pleased that President Obama chose to nominate Mari Carmen and Raul. The Senate now has an opportunity to send a strong signal to the world that Hispanic Americans are part of our global mission.” declared Rafael A. Fantauzzi, President & CEO of the National Puerto Rican Coalition. “I’m honored to know both of these amazing leaders, we urge the Senate to introduce them to the world. “
