DC Immigrant Community Hosts Community Forum with Congressman Luis Gutierrez to Discuss Immigration Reform and President Obama’s Initiatives

Washington, DC – Congressman Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), a leader in the defense of immigration reform, will speak at an Open Doors Forum on issues concerning the immigrant community in the DC metropolitan area.  The forum is sponsored by the DC immigrant community.

Topics that community leaders and community members will deliberate with Congressman Gutierrez include:

·        key components of President Obama's Executive Action and what it means for undocumented immigrants

·        the decision of the Southern District of Texas to reverse the preliminary injunction of President Obama’s Executive Action

·        unaccompanied children arriving in the US from Central America and the in-country refugee program for minors living in El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras

·        the Temporary Protected Status (TPS)

·        the current situation of Day Laborers that keeps the immigrant community marginalized and living in fear
