Washington D.C. -  The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) and Carnegie Mellon University’s (CMU) Heinz College of Information Systems and Public Policy have partnered to award scholarships to CHCI alumni pursuing master’s degrees at Heinz College. This unique opportunity provides emerging Latinx leaders with the financial support they need to access education that will advance them in their path towards careers in Public Policy and STEM.
 
Through the CHCI-Carnegie Mellon University partnership, qualified CHCI alumni will receive scholarships that cover a minimum of 30% of tuition per semester when enrolling in Heinz College’s master’s programs. The nationally acclaimed programs provide students with the analytics, technology, and policy skills necessary to solve complex societal problems in an increasingly connected world.
 
“We recruit top young minds from around the world and prepare them to be problem-solvers in all levels of government, as well as consulting firms, think tanks, non-profits, and other organizations that serve the public interest. Students who are drawn toward leadership programs like CHCI have the passion and drive to succeed at CMU, and in turn we can give them the skills they need to have meaningful impact in the world,” said Gladys Perez-Sriprasert, Director of Public Policy and Management programs at Heinz College. “We have a culture here that promotes equity, justice, and inclusive innovation, and fundamental to that is a student body  that is richly diverse in backgrounds and perspectives. It’s a priority for us to do all we can to ensure that talented students like CHCI alumni have access to our master’s degree programs, and that includes removing financial barriers.”
