Greenville, NC-The Association of Mexicans in North Carolina, Inc. (AMEXCAN) along with the Eastern North Carolina Latin-American Coalition, Inc. (ENLACO) and North Pitt High School are pleased to announce the first annual Latino Summit to be held at North Pitt H.S, 5659 N Carolina 11, Bethel, NC 27812, on Saturday November 15, 2014 from 9am-4pm.

This event will be dedicated to bringing the community together, especially the Latino families, to provide the occasion to learn about higher education & career opportunities available to their students. The occasion will be comprised of two separate sessions. The first session will be in the morning until noon; The Education Summit. The Education Summit will consist of two education panels and a discussion to end.  The second half of the summit will be the Career Expo, in which community partners and agencies will be present to display resource information and support on their services.

The ratio of the number of Latino students pursing post-secondary education to the growth percentage of Latino population in North Carolina[1][1] is significantly low. A leading reason as to why those numbers are the way they are, simply put, is because these students and their families are not aware of how readily such resources are available. Throughout this partnership & collaboration we hope to edify the understanding of the community that higher education and more suitable career goals are now much more possible.
