Arlington, VA - Brimming with authentic foods, crafts and top Tango, Pop and folkloric performers directly from Argentina, the 29th Annual ARGENTINE FESTIVAL takes place on SATURDAY MAY 14, 2016, at 4:00pm at Thomas Jefferson Theater, 125 South Old Glebe Road, Arlington, Virginia. A menu of choice Argentinean foods byIlbastone Gourmet of the Metropolitan area will be available for purchase at www.festivalargentinousa.org

You probably didn't expect your visit to Arlington to include a side-trip to Argentina, did you? Well, look no further than the 29th Annual Argentine Festival, an Arlington institution, brimming with authentic food, crafts and performers direct from Argentina, taking place on Saturday, May 14, at 4:00 p.m. at the Thomas Jefferson Theater in Arlington, Virginia - rain or shine!

This year's performers include:

  • LOS ROMERO Folklore Group of S.A. de Giles. Featuring: Armando (guitar and vocals), José Romero (guitar and vocals) & Juan Sena Delgado (bandoneón), Raul Chuly Garcia.- extensive career in the Americas.

·         RUBEN GIMENEZ, folk ensemble fresh and passionate poetic line from Entre Rios.

·         SOLEDAD Y ANA ISSA a celebrated folkloric duo vocal female that recently wowed the folk of Salta, Cosquinfestival and in the Americas;

·         NANCY MASSOBRIO Folk and Tango career professional singer, from different style pop, folk, tango presenting a Homage to Mercedes Sosa a truly ambassador and supporter of the festival.

·         HUGO  VALVERDE,famous Argentine folk-tango and international showman.;

·         DARIO CHIESA, Argentina’s 21st century argentine under folk-rock, in his U.S. Tour;

·          While these artists are direct from Argentina, local artists with Argentine roots also perform, including tango dancers Carlos Gutiérrez;PONTITANGO "The Tango Ambassadors"; Liza and Alexey Semyonov, They will be joined byCRISTIAN PEREZ, guitar, Yana Hristova, flute.Special invite from Bolivia, SALVATOREMusic from Yesterdayand Argentina.

This is an open space for the public to participate and enjoy our traditional dance. Thus, The Milonga seeks to convey and emphasize the values of this genre while strengthening our Latin American identity. Argentinean – Latin American crafts Exhibition directed by catalogs from DATA EVENTOSand expositors, and Latin American local craftsmen” will be showcased authentic food sold by IlBastonechori-pa, empanadas, alfajores from Cordoba with many surprises and card games !

The event will take place on May 14, 2016 at the Thomas Jefferson Theatre.  Doors open at 4pm and it will conclude at 10: 30pm. More performers in this annual show!  And, featuring, unique handmade products from Argentina and Latin Americans Artisans. Included in the admission ticket-raffle.  Part of the proceeds will assist the Mar del Plata School Nr.1 Elementary School “PascualaMugaburu”, and will be promoting the organization Alianza Latina and Arzani Soccer and more!
