CHLI Announces Gala & Leadership Awards Tonight

Washington, DC (CapitalWirePR) May 14, 2008-- The Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute (CHLI) will be holding its Fourth Annual Gala and Leadership Awards with the following distinguished speakers:

•       The Honorable Albio Sires, United States House of Representatives
•       Octavio Hinojosa Mier, CHLI Executive Director
•       Honorable Lincoln Diaz-Balart, CHLI Chairman, United States House of Representatives
•       Raquel "Rocky" Egusquiza, CHLI Vice-Chair, Ford Motor Company Fund
•       Brenda Villanueva, 2005 Ford/CHLI Intern
•       The Honorable Henry Cuellar, United States House of Representatives
•       The Honorable Mario Diaz-Balart, United States House of Representatives
•       The Honorable Lindsey Graham, United States Senate
•       His Excellency Petr Kolar, Ambassador of the Czech Republic

The ceremony will be held tonight at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Washington, DC at 7:00 pm. This widely attended event brings together the nation’s most distinguished community leaders of the U.S. Hispanic community.

Senator Lindsey Graham (SC) will be receiving the 2008 CHLI Leadership in Public Service Award. The CHLI Leadership in Public Service Award is one of three yearly prestigious recognitions bestowed by the Congressional Hispanic Leadership Institute in recognition of a distinguished public service career and service to our nation’s Hispanic community. Previous recipients have included U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos M. Gutierrez (2006) and former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives J. Dennis Hastert (2007).
