Washington, DC – Kenyan McDuffie is gaining momentum and drawing enthusiastic crowds in his quest for DC’s Ward 5 Councilmember nomination. The DC Latino Caucus PAC is the most recent in giving McDuffie a push forward with the announcement of their support for his nomination. McDuffied garnered 42% of the votes in his quest for the Democratic Party nomination at the DC Latino Caucus PAC endorsement meeting.
“In Kenyan McDuffie, the Latino community has a friend we can count on. There is a field of good candidates in this race and we believe Mr. McDuffie stands out and would be a great representative for all the residents of Ward 5,” stated Franklin Garcia, Chair of the DC Latino Caucus PAC.
While one leading opponent Delano Hunter has been damaged by revelations that he has been sued several times for unpaid debts, McDuffie is drawing large and committed gatherings of voters, such as this weekend’s rally at an outdoor café on Rhode Island Avenue NW [photos].
The 28 year old Hunter ran up the debts during his last election foray, apparently from those less enthusiastic about his leadership attributes. With DC Mayor Vincent Gray under Federal investigation, Hunter’s handling of his finances may not be the sort of marquis to a nomination that will make the Ward 5 Democratic Party machine look committed to clean government.
The DC Latino Caucus PAC went on to strongly encourage its members and friends in Ward 5 to vote this Tuesday May 15th for Kenyan McDuffie. In addition to the endorsement, the DC Latino Caucus PAC will be out staffing, calling and helping Mr. McDuffie on Election Day.
