About Brianna Hinojosa-Flores

 

Brianna has lived in Texas all her life.  She grew up in the Rio Grande Valley (where all her family still resides), attended undergrad and law school in San Antonio and started her legal career in the Dallas area.

 

Ms. Hinojosa-Flores has over 14 years experience in the area of intellectual property (patents, trademarks, copyrights, trade secrets) and is currently a Senior Patent Attorney at Research In Motion (RIM), makers of the Blackberry device. Prior to joining RIM, Ms. Hinojosa-Flores worked as outside and in-house patent counsel for companies such as Nortel and Uniden America Corporation.

 

Prior to entering law school, Brianna was employed as an electrical engineer with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) in San Antonio as a government contractor.  One of her clients was the United States Air Force, in which she was required to have Government Secret Clearance.

 

In May 2005, Brianna was elected as the first Hispanic woman to the Coppell City Council (at-large).  In her seven years of service, she has focused on safety, economic development, and health and wellness. She has helped strengthen the relationship between the city and the Chamber of Commerce in order to support local businesses and encouraged many new businesses to locate in Coppell to promote job creation and increase demand for existing businesses.

 

Brianna graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio in 1994 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering.  She received her J.D. from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio in 1998 and her M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2007.

 

Brianna is married to Juan Carlos Flores, a retired U.S. Army veteran.  Together they are the proud parents of two children (ages 7 and 2 1/2).  She and her family attend St. Ann’s Catholic Church, where she teaches Sunday school to 1st grade children.
