Washington, D.C. – Paso Nuevo is proud to present Palabras Sinceras/Sincere Words on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at 7:30 pm at GALA Theatre in Washington, DC. Directed by Guadalupe Campos, the presentation is a collection of poetry and short scenes written and developed by Paso Nuevo participants. Palabras Sinceras is performed in Spanish and English. “The original work presented in the production,” states director Campos, “is a culmination of a four month exploration of human emotions, needs, and actions by Paso Nuevo participants through the arts. In this brief but intense period the youth developed a safe space to share their perspectives on love, friendship, family, and migration.”

ABOUT PASO NUEVO
Now in its 26th year, Paso Nuevo is GALA’s after-school workshop program for Latino and multi-cultural youth ages 12 to 19. The workshops are held throughout the year and provide a safe environment in which youth can explore issues of identity and cultural differences, articulate their values, increase self- esteem, and gain bilingual skills that will enhance their academic performance and future career opportunities. Additionally, the youth involved in this project control all aspects of the theatrical process, from conception to technical direction and marketing.
