Gaugin to Picasso: Masterworks from Switzerland

The Staechelin & Im Obsersteg Collections

From the renowned collections of Rudolf Staechelin and Karl Im Obersteg, over 60 celebrated paintings created during the mid-19th and 20th centuries by 22 world-famous artists will be on view. This exhibition marks the first occasion for these collections to be exhibited together in the US.

Permanent Collection

Among the outstanding artists’ works exhibited in the Phillip’s permanent collection are these pieces with a Hispanic connection:

Pablo Picasso, The Blue Room, 1901, oil on canvas; Abstraction, Biarritz, 1918, oil on canvas; L’Abreuvoir, 1905, drypoint on paper; Bull fight, 1946, Lithograph on paper; Coiffure, 1923, lithograph on paper; The Jester, 1905, Bronze overall; Head of a Woman, 1950, Bronze; Studio Corner, 1921, Tempera & gouache on paper; Woman’s Head, 1945, Lithograph on paper; Reclining Figure, 1934, oil on canvas; Still Life with Glass and Fruit, 1939, oil on canvas; Woman with Green Hat, 1939, oil on canvas.
